How to Shop for an Inexpensive Junior/Senior Prom Outfit

You don't have to break the bank to find a fashionable dress for the big dance. Inexpensive, yet chic dresses are easy to locate.
What you wear to your prom will live on in pictures and memories. So finding the perfect outfit can be a daunting task. And in this economy, expensive ensembles will not work. With a little bit of perserverance, you can find the perfect dress...at a bargain price.
- TJ Maxx This is a hit-or-miss store. Sometimes you have to search racks and racks of clothing without finding what you're looking for. Other times, you eye the perfect dress the minute you walk in the store. If you don't see what you like the first time, ask to talk to a manager. Find out when new shipments are coming in. Then plan on arriving the next day. (It usually takes several hours to unload the boxes.) Also, if you have a specific idea as to what you're looking for, an astute manager will offer to give you a call when that type of dress comes in. If not, find an energetic sales clerk, and ask her to hold it for you, before other prom-goers see it first!
- Target Known as a little more upscale than Walmart, this often overlooked discount retailer is the place to go for prom dresses, as well as Spring fashions in general. Well-known designers lend their name to fashions here, and their colorful junior clothes have given way to contemporary dresses.
- Overstock If you're not worried about finding the absolute latest fashion, this internet retailer is the place to search. They might even have the most up-to-date fashions of the moment. Like TJ Maxx, it is a hit-or-miss thing. Check here everyday, to be sure you don't miss anything. And do a google search for coupon codes before you press "purchase."
- Macys The place for sales. If you can't find the dress discounted, but you love it anyway, put it on hold for 24 hours, go home and try to find the same dress cheaper somewhere else. If you can't, at least look online and in the newspaper for a Macy's coupon. The store offers them constantly. Also, ask the sales clerk if he/she has a coupon. Sometimes they are laying around, or the cashier will have one stashed in a drawer.
