Walmart's Black Friday ad for the day after Thanksgiving has been officially released. Included in this article are tips for shopping on November 28, 2008.

Walmart has released its official Black Friday sales ad. The ad can be found on the Walmart website and will most likely be spread throughout the web as word gets out that it is available.

Were Walmart Black Friday 2008 Predictions True?

The author of the CNNMoney article referenced in Walmart 2008 Black Friday Ad Speculation claimed to have a leaked copy of the Walmart ad circular. The article also mentioned a 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern Time door buster sale that would feature a Magnavox Blu-ray player, HP Pavilion desktop computer, a 50-inch Samsung HDTV, a UniFlame gas grill and an Xbox 360 with a free Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock game plus wireless guitar. Other predictions included a low-priced GE microwave, discounted children’s clothing, and an inexpensive Hannah Montana doll.

The verdict? These predictions turn out to be correct! The ad posted on Walmart’s website reveals those deals. Additionally, Walmart advertises Black Friday deals on the following high-demand items: a Nintendo Wii console, an Apple iPod, a Kodak digital camera, and laptop computers.

Planning a Shopping Trip: Tips for Black Friday 2008

Now that the ad is out there, how can individuals make sure they get the deal of their choice? Up front planning plays a big part.

Here are some tips to help plan the day of shopping:

  1. Make a list of desired items in order of importance. It’s easy to get caught up in all of the amazing deals, but a little focus on this day will pay off. Someone who has two specific products in mind is bound to get those items over another person who is overwhelmed and indecisive.
  2. Decide who will take care of getting each item. If two or more items seem important, then take a companion or two so everyone will have a primary item to target.
  3. Determine whether online or in-store is best. Taking advantage of day after Thanksgiving sales used to entail getting up early and waiting in line at 5 a.m. These days, deals are also available online, so consider simply logging on instead of venturing out into the cold.
  4. Go at the right time. The best laid plan will fail if no more products are left on the shelves (virtual or not). Double check on what time the sale will start. Walmart’s in-store sale will start at 5 a.m. this year.

With a little forethought and a solid strategy, everyone can experience a successful Black Friday 2008 shopping trip.
