Where to go and what to look for when searching for great deals on spring clothes both online and in bricks and mortar stores.
If you’ve got a penchant for prom dresses, need a new pair of shades, or just want to unload some cash on some cute clothes, get ready for big sales this summer. Everything left over from spring is marked down. And you'll find great deals, if you know where to look.
How to Save Big on Summer Sales:
Forget about selection. If you’re in the mood for some serious bargains, you need to let go of any pre-conceived notions of what you're searching for. Because chances are, you won’t find it. What you will find are terrific mark downs on items that maybe aren’t the color or style you had in mind, but ones that you could get used to pretty quickly given the price. For instance, white walking shorts in a small size probably won’t be available. But if you’re looking for mango orange or hot pink tank tops, there’s a good chance of finding some decent prices.
Buy in quantity. Many stores are offering free shipping and bigger discounts if you by en mass. Even if you think you won’t wear something this season, save it for next spring. The styles don’t change that quickly; and even if they do, who cares. You saved a bundle and if no one else appreciates your thriftiness, you need a new set of friends.
Shop by yourself. Sifting through sales takes serious time and effort. This isn’t a social event. You need to wear your comfortable shoes, bring along a calculator, and get to work! Look under the clothes strewn around on the sale table. Peruse every rack, including ones not in your size. People return clothes in the most convenient place, not necessarily the correct spot.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Hail a salesperson and ask pointed questions if you’re unsure. Don’t wait until you’re swiping your credit card to find out that the cute pair of pants really wasn’t on sale and doesn’t qualify for the special coupon promotion. And before you walk out the door, search for coupons online; especially if you are loyal to a specific brand.
You can always place an item on hold. You might feel tempted to buy the first thing you see at the first store on your list. Instead ask the sales person to hold it behind the counter at least until the end of the day. If you haven’t found anything you like better you can always return to the store and pick it up.
Can’t find anything at the mall? Check out online outlet stores for more selection and often, better deals.
