How to Prepare Marie Callender's Frozen Chicken Pot Pie

The directions on the package give you a microwave and an oven version. The oven instructions take between 43 and 48 minutes to prepare. While it only takes five to six minutes in the microwave. But you won't get the crispy brown crust as you would from the oven. So...combine the two. Follow the microwave directions on the package but cook on high for only four minutes. Then pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees and bake for an additional seven minutes. The crust will come out golden brown and you won't have to worry about the dish not heating through on the inside.

Taste

The sauce is smooth and creamy and the vegetables are surprisingly fresh-tasting. As frozen pot pies go, it does contain a lot of carrots, peas and green beans, but not enough! (To add more yourself, see below.) The white meat chicken is pretty moist and the crust is brown and crunchy as long as you bake it in the oven at least part of the time. If you like your pot pie spicy, try adding Kick'n Chicken Seasoning by Grill Creations.

How to Make Marie Callender's Chicken Pot Pie Taste Like Home-Made

After you take this dish out of the microwave, split the crust and add some mixed frozen vegetables before you put it in the oven. Every grocery store carries some type of generic bag of plain veggies. That's all you need. You can always spice them up at the table. Also, if you like more chicken in your pot pie, buy whole chicken in bulk, freeze it, and then cut up small pieces to add to the dish. Not only will adding your own meat make it taste more home-made, but if you're a dark meat lover, you can cut up bits of a thigh or leg. Just make sure you cook it thoroughly before adding the meat.
