The Joy of Cooking book has been around for decades. But the frozen food brand is fairly new. How’d they do venturing into the ready-made food market? The claim on the box that you get "the taste of homemade without all the work," isn’t quite true...but close.

Taste

As lasagnas go, this does contain a lot of meat (beef and pepperoni) but not enough cheese (see instructions below on how to make it more cheesy.) But where they scrimped on the cheese, they made up for on the sauce. It’s pretty thick and full of tomatoes. You really need to cook this at least partly in the oven to give it that overall baked lasagna taste. A quick microwave meal... this is not.

How to Make JOC Meat Lasagna Taste more like Homemade

During the last 20 minutes of cooking, top with a layer of mozzarella and parmesan cheese. If you like a very meaty lasagna, add a layer of pepperoni as well. To really brown it up, broil only for about 30 seconds at the end. Sprinkle a little Italian seasoning and pepper on top before serving. To make this meal complete, add a crisp salad and ready made garlic bread from the supermarket (all you do is heat it up in the oven.)
