Instead of going to the restaurant, Boston Market has brought their famous dinners to grocery store frozen food aisles. But is it as good as take-out? Best deals/coupons.

You don’t have to wait for Thanksgiving to eat turkey and cranberries at home. Boston Market’s frozen turkey breast dinner comes with cranberry relish and a side of sweet potato casserole. Is it as good as Grandma’s? Maybe not, but if you add a few of your own ingredients, it’s not bad for a quick weeknight dinner.

Price:

$3.49 for 10 ounces (one serving)

How to Prepare Boston Market Turkey Breast Medallions:

The box gives you microwave and oven directions. To brown the turkey and get food on the table faster, combine the two.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. While the oven is heating, remove the tray from the box and lift one corner of plastic film to vent.
  3. Microwave on high for two minutes.
  4. Take the dinner out of the microwave and stir. Replace film cover and place tray on a baking sheet in the pre-heated oven.
  5. Cook for 15 minutes.
  6. When you take the dinner out of the oven, let it stand for a couple of minutes.

Taste:

The turkey is pretty good but could use a little pepper and seasoning. The sweet potato casserole is excellent...definitely as good as you’ll find at Boston Market’s restaurant. There weren't nearly enough cranberries, but those few mixed in with the turkey and gave the meat and berries added flavor. (See below how to spice up this dinner and make it taste more like homemade.)

How to Make Boston Market Turkey Breast Medallions in a Cranberry Relish Taste more Like Homemade:

  • Add more cranberries. You can buy a small 8 ounce can of Ocean Spray Cranberry relish for 85 cents.
  • Add pepper and poultry seasoning to the turkey. About a half teaspoon sprinkled over the meat will really improve its flavor.
  • Don’t cook this in the microwave only! Either heat entirely in the oven or a combination of both as described above. This way the meat will be browned and won’t turn out limp or soggy.

Coupons/Deals:

Go to Boston Market’s web site, fill out a form and you can print out coupons for $1 off any three Boston Market frozen meals.

Boston Market’s frozen version of its restaurant meal isn’t bad...but doesn’t really compare to a turkey you roast in the oven. And you don’t even have to wait until Thanksgiving. Look for a sale on turkeys, find an easy recipe, and freeze the leftovers.
