What to Watch Out for When Renting a Plasma TV
Carefully check over the equipment. If you see any scratches or dents, make note of them and alert the company. Also put it writing. That way, they can’t accuse you of damaging the TV when it’s returned.
Read the contract carefully. Find out what you are responsible for and what happens if the TV doesn’t work for the big day, or something goes wrong. Is a repair technician available on Sundays, namely Super Bowl Sunday?
What is your liability? If someone spills beer on the speakers, or knocks over the floor stand, what is your obligation? You need to make sure all of this is in writing before you sign a contract.
Measure your space. Before you reserve a TV, make sure you have enough room in your house or apartment. The worst thing would be if your big screen arrives and there’s not enough room for the TV and your guests!
Book early! You’re not the only one with the brilliant idea to rent a giant screen for the game. Try to reserve your TV at least two weeks ahead of time to ensure availability. Better yet, rent the TV before you send out the invitations. That way, you know you’ll be covered.
Consider an outdoor party. If you live in a warm climate, why not move the TV outdoors? As long as electricity is available, you can watch the game by the pool, just like a "dive-in movie."
If you’ve decided to buy instead of rent, how to choose between an LCD and a Plasma TV. And start shopping now. Electronics retailers are expecting a big rush right before the game.
