The Mega Millions lottery is a United States venture operated throughout twelve states. It began under the name “The Big Game” in 1996, when only six states were participating in the drawing. The game rules were revamped in conjunction with the name change to “Mega Millions” in May 2002.

Upon drawing completion, the results are typically posted online the night of the drawing, although the exact time lag may vary from week to week.
