Cyber Monday is quickly rivaling Black Friday as the day online shoppers can save big. More consumers are heading to cyber space instead of brick-and-mortar stores.

Instead of experiencing tired feet and daunting crowds, many consumers are avoiding long lines on Black Friday and instead are waiting for Cyber Monday to get great deals online. The bargains are plentiful, but with the vastness of cyber space, many shoppers are overwhelmed before they even log on. So, to save money and time, have a plan in place before midnight on Monday.

How to Save Money on Cyber Monday:

Before that turkey is even digested, start searching for online coupon codes. Visit the store web sites that are first on that shopping list. For instance, if Overstock is a favorite, visit the site on Saturday to find out which deals they'll be offering on Cyber Monday. If it's a particular item that someone is asking for, visit a site like ShopStyle that finds the best price on certain products. But above all, find out the exact time the sales start at particular stores. If the bargains begin at 2 a.m. set an alarm clock. The best deals are likely to go fast!

Do a Coupon Code Search Before Checking Out:

Even If if the deal of the century is safely in a shopping cart, still do a quick coupon code search for that particular item to make sure there aren't any more discounts out there. Also visit sites like Ebates.which offer up to 10% off at hundreds of stores. They get a referral fee from those merchants which they then split with the consumer.

Try to Avoid Shipping Charges:

Often online stores will allow consumers to have the items shipped to their closest brick-and-mortar location to avoid shipping costs. For instance, instead of buying something at Target online and having it shipped to a residence, have it shipped to the closest store and possibly avoid shipping charges. The product will be waiting usually at a back entrance or customer service.

Be Prepared with Patience and a Plan:

Just like shopping on Black Friday, perusing the internet on Cyber Monday might be somewhat of a challenge as well. No, long lines and traffic jams aren't a problem, but slow connection speeds and out-of-stock inventory might be. So be patient, shop early, and stay hydrated! Even though walking through crowded malls won't be an issue, still allow time to get some shopping done, not just a lunch hour. And if the items are out of stock? Most stores will notify consumers when the item is available and will usually offer the same price.
