If you didn't receive a Wii Fit for Christmas, you might have better luck in January. But you have to be patient and don't overpay!
If your new year's resolution is to lose weight the high tech way, you might be in for a wait. Everyone must believe that Wii Fit is the gamer's answer to getting in shape, because this popular device is extremely difficult to find, let alone exercise with.
How to FInd Wii Fit
Buy it in a store, not online. Unless you get a great deal on the web, you are better off waiting for the device to arrive in stores. Some online merchants are jacking up the price. Don't fall for it! Even if your new year's resolution will be delayed, you'll feel much worse if you end up over-paying.
Make calls. There's no way around it. This task will require a lot of phone and leg work. Get on the horn and bug those stores nicely! Make a polite call everyday. Even if you have already talked to the electronics person at Walmart near your home five times this week, try the store a few miles away. Each one receives different shipments. It would help to develop a relationship with the sales person and even stop by the store and tell him/her what you are looking for. They probably won't hold it for you; but then again, they might. If you are having no luck, at least find out the next day and time a shipment will arrive. Then mark it on your calendar to call then.
Check with a tracking service, but don't rely on it. Wii Tracker consistently updates its list as to which merchant has Wii Fit in stock. But it might include accessories you don't want or need, and you may end up having to pay for shipping, or receive the games after stores in your area already have them in stock.
Which stores are best to try? Start with Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Game Stop and Circuit City.
Read the reviews. Before you spend your hard-earned money on a device you aren't sure you will even use after January 31st, check the reviews online. Find out what other people think and weigh their opinions carefully. Maybe all you really need is a pair of walking shoes.
Don't give up! If you are kicking yourself now because you didn't buy the Wii Fit earlier, and you didn't think to ask for it over the holidays, don't despair. You will eventually receive the games. You just have to be patient and hope for a little luck!
