Break open the bubbly! You can still get a good deal on canned soda if you know where to look. How to find the cheapest prices on soda.

Whether you refer to carbonated beverages as "soda" or "pop" these fizzy concoctions can be pricey. But not if you know where to look.

How to Find the Best Deals on Canned Soda (Prices May Vary Depending on Your Location):

  • Buy in bulk. Sam’s Club sells (32) 12-ounce cans of Coke for $8.18. While a 36-pack of Mountain Dew goes for $8.87. That’s less than 25 cents a can. Think about it the next time you buy a $2 soda from the vending machine!
  • Shop at discount stores for soda, not grocery stores. Unless there is a sale or you have a coupon, grocery stores are usually not the cheapest places to buy brand name soda. If you’re not a member of a warehouse club, try your local Walmart. Their regular price for (12) 12-ounce cans of Coke is $3.98. That’s 33 cents for each can. While Sunkist orange soda sells for $2.98 for (12) 12-ounce cans.

Make your Own Soda to Save Money

Buy soda syrup and mix it at home. One gallon of orange soda syrup at Sam’s Club costs $9.88. It makes six gallons of orange soda! That’s (64) 12-ounce drinks. Now all you need is an old fashioned soda fountain for your house. Soda Bar System sells dispensers you can install right in your kitchen cabinet starting at $398. A little pricey, but you'll certainly be the talk of the neighborhood!

Soda Alternatives

Try good old fashioned Kool-Aid. Amazon groceries has this kid-favorite drink priced at $13.25 for a pack of six 20-ounce containers. (You’ll receive free shipping if you buy $25 worth of product.)

If you’re counting calories, a low carb shake may be a healthy alternative to soda. Walgreens is offering low carb vanilla cream shakes by Slim-Fast (four can pack) on sale for 2/$11. The regular price is $6.79.

Shop for Generic Brands

If you’re not set on Coke or Mountain Dew, try store brand colas and lemon-lime sodas. Buy one can to make sure you like it and then purchase in bulk. Grocery stores often sell their own store-brand soda at considerably less than more popular names. Check for coupons in the flyers located at the front of the store for more savings.

Want to really save some money? Good old H20 is refreshing, thirst quenching, has no calories, and best of all, it’s free! You might notice the numbers on your scale go down, while your waist line shrinks and the money in your wallet begins to stretch a little more.
