Buying gifts for dads or grand dads doesn't have to be stressful. There are a lot of great presents that are affordable and fun!
Finding the perfect gift for Dad doesn't mean spending a lot. He'll probably be happy with anything...at least anything that his son or daughter picks out. It's easy to find a unique, yet affordable Father's Day present. Inexpensive and Thoughtful Presents for Dad:Take him to the movies, preferably a western or an action flick if that's what he likes. If money is a concern (and when is it not?) hit either the rush hour or matinee movie, which is usually much cheaper than an evening show. Or renting a flick is always a great option as well. Throw in candy and popcorn, and it will be two hours of time well-spent with Dad. Pack a picnic lunch. It doesn't have to be anything gourmet. A few bologna sandwiches and some ice cold beer or soda will certainly do the trick. Just spending time with Pop is something he will remember a lot longer than a quickly thrown together gift. If it's raining on Father's Day, simply bring the party indoors and make a home-made meal for Dad. If culinary talents don't run in the family, pick up some pre-cooked food at the deli department of a nearby supermarket. Gifts that Sons and Daughters Can Make Themselves: Make a simple gift basket for Dad. It doesn't have to be fancy. Include some of his favorite junk food (or healthy food if that's in order!) a gift card to the local hardware store, or tickets to a sporting event, and a nice note from his kids. All of his children or grandchildren can go in on this together if money is tight. And the sporting event doesn't have to be major league. Find a minor league team in the area. The tickets will be cheaper, and Dad might even enjoy the game more without all the crowds. Plan a trip with Dad that the entire Family Can Enjoy: If the whole family hasn't done anything together for a while, this might be worth the effort. Getting a big group of people together for a few hours is hard enough, let alone for a whole day or weekend, but planning in advance will help, and choosing a destination that is no further than two hours away by car, will make the planning easier and cheaper! Choose a local state park or nearby lake. Renting a large house or condo will be a lot cheaper than booking hotel rooms. Even waiting until the off-season will save money and Dad will have something to look forward to! By using a little imagination and not too much cash, kids of any age can come up with unique and affordable Father's Day gifts that the entire family will enjoy!
