Luckily for those hoping to take advantage of the cash for cars program, the United States federal government is keeping Cash for Clunkers hopes alive. According to Yahoo! News, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill to provide more Cash for Clunkers funding on July 31, 2009.

Assuming additional funding will be available, any American who wants to trade in a clunker vehicle for cash should act swiftly before the first and/or second round of funds officially runs out. A Note of Caution About Cash for Clunkers Websites Other Than cars.gov

As the Cash for Clunkers program winds down, consumers should be extra careful not to fall prey to online predators. On cars.gov, the government urges consumers to be wary of any website that asks for personal information in relation to the Cash for Clunkers program. Consumers should never provide information regarding car ownership or personal income amounts to an organization that purports to be affiliated with the CARS program.

According to the NHTSA, the official Cash for Clunkers program website will never require consumers to submit information electronically. Any official documentation regarding trade-ins or purchases will be provided directly to an authorized car dealer who then turns that information over to the NHTSA. Furthermore, consumers should keep in mind that no paper vouchers will be issued under this program. Everything is going to occur electronically. So, any website that claims to “issue” government vehicle vouchers is a fake.
