Think you know Sam's Club like the back of your hand? You may be missing out on the best prices available at the store. What to load up on and what to avoid at Sam's.
When you run into Sam’s each week, you probably pick out the same items every time. But you might be missing great deals that are right in front of you:
Free coffee Get to Sam’s when it first opens and you’ll be greeted at the door by not only the friendly person who checks your membership card, but also a freshly brewed pot of coffee. And it’s really good!
Gifts If you stick to the perimeter of the store and don’t venture into the middle, you are missing a treasure trove of gifts for others and yourself! From turkey smokers to outdoor beverage coolers, all the seasonal items are here. But if you find something you like, grab it. The best deals don’t last and when the merchandise is gone, it’s gone. It may never come back. You might even find designer tennis shoes and the latest video games. Even air hockey tables and life-size doll houses are known to surface in this area.
Delivery service It’s non-existent. So if you come to the store looking for something very large, plan on renting a truck or taking the item apart in the parking lot to place piece-meal in your car.
Produce Stick with fruits and vegetables that are in season. You’ll get a better price and they’re fresher.
Load up on non-perishables These are the best deals. You can store paper and plastic goods (like paper towels, toilet paper and trash bags) easily and they don’t go bad. Unless you’re feeding a family of six, will you really use that gigantic bag of lettuce before the leaves turn brown?
Soda This stuff is expensive. If you have company coming, grab these by the case. Sam’s doesn’t carry a lot of variety, so scratch cherry cream soda off your list, but as far as basic pop goes, you’ll save some serious dough.
Whole bean Starbucks coffee If you don’t have a coffee grinder at home, get one and buy whole beans at Sam’s. Not only will you save a lot of money, your coffee will taste much fresher. Sure, you can grind the beans yourself with the grinding machine at the store, but your beans will last longer and taste better if you do it yourself every morning at home.
Cheese Sam’s has quite an array of cheeses at bargain prices. The problem is, you are forced to buy a large quantity. So unless you eat the stuff non-stop or you’re making a whole bunch of recipes requiring cheese, it might become moldy before you get a chance to consume it all.
Finally, make the time to shop at Sam’s. Don’t go there when you’re in a hurry, because you might miss some great bargains. And if you’re tired of long lines and lots of walking, consider grocery shopping online!
