If you love designer looks, but don't have designer cash, fret no more...Neiman Marcus is launching its annual last call sale. You can find luxury looks at bargain basement prices, if you know how to shop.
How to Find the Best Deals at the Neiman Marcus Last Call Sale
- Start with shoes. This is where you'll see the biggest savings and the best value for your dollar. For instance, a Valentino tall flat boot that originally sold for $995 is now on sale for $448. Even if that price is still too steep, you can find a Fendi ankle rain boot in a variety of colors for $88. the original price was $195. You can even sort by discount percentage. The items with the highest percentage off will show up first. As an example, the first pair of shoes to pop up when you hit the "%Discount" button is a pair of Taryn Rose scrunch strap loafers for $110. The original price was $400. That's a savings of 72%.
- Next, hit jewelry and accessories. These products don't move as fast as shoes and apparel, so stores are often anxious to lower prices quickly. Look for up-and-coming designers for great deals, and styles that are unique enough that you won't see yourself coming and going in them. You can also find some great pieces for under $100, including a Juicy Couture Botanica charm bracelet for $84, a savings of 50%. And a Marc By Marc Jacobs cluster charm pendant necklace was originally $98 and is now going for $49.
- Look for winter clearance savings. You won't find any great deals on shorts and T-shirts yet, but if you can think ahead to next year, those coats, hats, gloves and cashmere sweaters are reduced substantially. Even if your mind is more on spring flowers than winter whites, you can save big by extending those winter months--in your mind at least--and take advantage of drastic price reductions. The NM exclusive "Emma" cashmere turtlneck is now $99, reduced from $220. But remember, cashmere is almost always "dry clean only." So if you don't want to spend money sending those sweaters out to launder, you might want to stick with cotton.
- Only buy what you really need. This advice sounds obvious, but even if the item is a real steal, and it sits in your closet with the price tag still on after a year, it's no bargain.
