Bank of America published a list of holidays the company will observe in 2009. The bank will be closed on these days:

New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1
Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 19
Presidents' Day, Monday, February 16
Easter, Sunday, April 12
Memorial Day, Monday, May 25
Independence Day, Saturday, July 4
Labor Day, Monday, September 7
Columbus Day, Monday, October 12
Veteran's Day, Wednesday, November 11
Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26
Christmas Day, Friday, December 25

Days Banks Are Closed in United States – Banking Holiday Calendars Should Be Similar

Each bank will have its own holiday calendar, but the Bank of America example above should be representative of a typical banking holiday schedule, as it is one of the United States’ largest banks.

BB&T Holiday Schedule Similar to Bank of America Days Off

BB&T follows a similar holiday schedule to Bank of America. All of the holidays are the same except BB&T does not list Easter Sunday as a day off. This doesn’t make a difference to the average bank customer, as most banks typically do not open to the public on Sundays.

2009 Bank Holiday Schedules & Official U.S. Federal Government Closings

The Bank of America and BB&T holiday schedules closely match official 2009 government closings allowed by the United States Code (Title 5, Section 6103). The federal government observes the same holidays as Bank of America with two exceptions.

The stock market is not closed on Columbus Day and Veteran’s Day, and instead of Easter (which falls on a Sunday), the stock market closed for Good Friday, April 10, 2009.
